马强教授，人类学与世界民族研究方向博士生导师，近年来与学生一起致力于海外民族志与“一带一路”沿线国家研究，本人重点关注南亚和东南亚民族与宗教问题，研究生已经从事过田野调查的国家包括伊朗、阿联酋、巴基斯坦、尼泊尔、孟加拉国、新加坡、喀麦隆、乌兹别克斯坦、蒙古国等。马强教授是教育部“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”和陕西省“陕西高校人文社会科学青年英才支持计划”获得者。多次获得国家留学基金委资助作为高级研究学者，赴加利福尼亚大学伯克利分校、西蒙菲莎大学、新加坡国立大学、撒马尔罕国立大学等从事访学和研究。陕西省统一战线智库首批专家、陕西省宗教工作专家库首批特聘专家、宁夏统一战线智库特邀专家。

Academic Profile of Professor Ma Qiang
Prof. Dr. Ma Qiang is affiliated with the Institute for Western Frontier Region of China at Shaanxi Normal University in Xi’an, China. He received his Bachelor’s degree in History and his Master of Philosophy (with a specialization in Comparative Religious Studies) from Northwest Minzu University in Lanzhou. He subsequently earned his Ph.D. in the Anthropology of Religion from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou.
In 2008, he was awarded a fellowship by the Asia Scholarship Foundation, which supported ten months of research in Kuala Lumpur. In 2012, he received the prestigious “Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University” (NCET) from the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
Supported by the China Scholarship Council, he has held visiting positions as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley (2013), Simon Fraser University, Canada (2022), the National University of Singapore (2024), and Samarkand State University (2025).
Prof. Ma’s current research focuses on Area Studies, with particular emphasis on ethnic groups, religions, and socio-cultural dynamics in South Asia—especially Pakistan, where he regularly conducts fieldwork.
He has been invited to deliver lectures and present his research at numerous prestigious international institutions and conferences, including SOAS University of London, Toyo Bunko (Japan), Waseda University, Osaka University, the University of Malaya (UIA), the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), the Forum for Arab and International Relations (Qatar), the University of Geneva, and the Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies.
