马强，教授、博士生导师。先后在西北民族大学和中山大学攻读过历史学、宗教学和人类学专业，获得人类学专业宗教人类学方向博士学位。主要研究方向为人类学与世界民族，近年来与学生一起致力于海外民族志与“一带一路”沿线国家研究。教育部“新世纪优秀人才支持计划”获得者和陕西省“陕西高校人文社会科学青年英才支持计划”获得者。 多次获得国家留学基金委资助作为高级研究学者，赴加利福尼亚大学伯克利分校、西蒙菲莎大学、新加坡国立大学、撒马尔罕国立大学等从事访学和研究。

Brief Introduction of Professor Ma Qiang
Prof. Dr. Ma Qiang is affiliated with the Institute for Western Frontier Region of China at Shaanxi Normal University in Xi’an, China. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in History and his Master of Philosophy (specializing in Comparative Religious Studies) from Northwest Minzu University in Lanzhou. He later obtained his Ph.D. in the Anthropology of Religion from Sun Yat-sen University in Guangzhou.
In 2008, he was awarded the Asia Scholarship Foundation fellowship, which enabled him to conduct ten months of research in Kuala Lumpur. In 2012, he was honored with the prestigious “Program for New Century Excellent Talents in University” (NCET) by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
Supported by the China Scholarship Council, he has served as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley (2013), Simon Fraser University, Canada (2022), National University of Singapore (2024) and Samarkand State University (2025).
Prof. Ma’s current research centers on Area Studies, with a particular focus on ethnic groups, religions, and socio-cultural dynamics in South Asia—especially Pakistan, where he frequently conducts fieldwork.
He has been invited to deliver lectures and present research at numerous prestigious international institutions and conferences, including SOAS (University of London), Toyo Bunko (Japan), Waseda University, Osaka University, University of Malaya (UIA), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Forum for Arab and International Relations (Qatar), University of Geneva, and Tangier American Legation Institute for Moroccan Studies.
